green leaf plant

Project Overview

The Eighth Leaf Project is a clinical and community-based initiative exploring the healing power of medicinal plants — beginning with Great Mullein. Grounded in green science, heritage, and regenerative agriculture, we are building a research center in Robeson County, NC, to support underserved populations, empower indigenous wisdom, and validate natural medicine through sustainable and evidence-based practices.

As a nonprofit, The Eighth Leaf Project bridges tradition and science to bring greater healing access to rural communities while promoting environmental stewardship.

Vision Statement
Mission Statement

To restore the bond between people and plants by advancing scientific, sustainable, and spiritually grounded research on medicinal herbs — beginning with mullein and expanding to the healing wild plants of the South.

The Eighth Leaf Project is committed to:

  • Conducting clinical-grade extraction and research on healing plants like mullein

  • Using regenerative farming and ethical wildcrafting methods

  • Supporting underserved and indigenous communities through wellness and education

  • Partnering with universities, doctors, and researchers to promote evidence-based herbal studies

..

Objectives
  • Environmental Research & Monitoring
To investigate soil, water, and plant health on agricultural and rural lands in Robeson County, with a focus on identifying nutrient overload, contamination, and factors affecting native plant ecosystems.

  • Waterway Protection & Community Safety
To monitor local creeks, ponds, and tributaries, including Shoe Heel Creek, for potential pollution sources, document environmental changes such as algae blooms, and raise awareness when contamination may affect families, children, and fishing communities.

  • Phytoremediation & Native Plant Science
To study the environmental and medicinal properties of Great Mullein and other native species, including their potential role in soil remediation, nutrient absorption, and ecological restoration.

  • Environmental Justice & Advocacy
To support underserved rural communities, particularly Indigenous and low-income families, by identifying environmental risks, documenting agency response gaps, and advocating for transparency, accountability, and public health protections.

  • Education & Public Outreach
To educate local residents, landowners, and families about environmental risks, safe water practices, and sustainable land stewardship; and to provide accessible information through workshops, publications, and community communication channels.Write your text here...
